I just want to hang out with you

Relationships keep getting shorter and shorter.  For every make up, there's a break up; lather, rinse and repeat.  It's as if they suffer from occasional bouts of ADD.  I've had short ones, too.  Usually, if I see something isn't going forward, I stop it and move on.  And this happened with M.

After going out and talking for a few weeks, I mention something via text, saying if M likes me, then I could ask for a plus one for a party I'm going to the next week.

"I'm not romantically attracted to you but..." There's more after the "but" and I delete the message. Basically, it said there's no attraction there (yet, I continually receive messages) but M wants to "hang out" with me.  I don't reply.

About an hour later my phone beeps and I get another text.  "Annnnnnnnd no response?"

I delete the text.

The next day there's another message from M.  I delete it.

If I sound curt (and yes, even rude), I have a very good reason:  I don't like to waste my time.  Let's keep it real.  You don't want to date me or fuck me, but you want to "hang" with me because you're bored and need to be entertained (to have someone lavish attention on you as an ego boost).  Uh huh, yeah... but no.

I have friends and I'm too busy to "hang" with people who aren't interested in me.  Maybe that sounds irrational, but I think it's being smart.  Why would I want to hang out with someone who doesn't really want to be with me?  Let them "hang out" with someone else.

I do almost exactly the same thing, but I always tell people that I'm done with them. Just not answering is passive aggressive.
