Jealousy is like a cheap suit

Jealousy is a state of being envious or resentful of a person(s) advantages. It can be about money and success, family and friends, lovers and fuckers. It can happen to anyone and no one is immune.

Even me.

**

Upon hearing about the romantic exploits of a friend of mine, my mind slowly begins to go the ugly place where I don’t like to visit, or even pass by on occasion. As much as I wanted to hear more, I couldn't stomach it for much longer. Jealousy is not an attractive personality trait.

The feeling of That should’ve been me overwhelms me. My mind tells me a bunch of illogical thoughts: I deserved to be there. I wanted to be the one who was bold and made the first step. I wanted to have the touch, the kiss, the connection.

But, logistically, I couldn’t. I wasn’t there. I couldn’t do anything about it. And, in the end, I felt foolish for feeling something that was beyond my control.

Jealousy is like a cheap suit, made of green polyester, hanging off a body like a poorly-fitted second skin. I'm wearing it, and it looks butt-ugly on me.

So true. I think everyone gets jealous now and then. Of course, there's a difference between the quiet "I wish that was me" type and the jealous rage that has you throwing plates across the room. I've had a lot of the former, and none of the latter.

And no plate throwing for you either, mmmkay?

Even though jealousy serves no purpose except to make you feel bad, it is difficult at times to avoid it. It looks bad on everybody.

Torn is correct. It looks bad on everybody, but if we are honest, we have all tried it on for size at sometime or another.

That you recognize it is good. Now you can deal with it with maturity and move on.

I am sorry I made you feel this way. Ok, well maybe I am not, but at least I said I was.

But what is there to be jealous about? You have a home made porn with Helen Mirren?

Yeah, I have a matching suit. Less about lovers (unless it's ones I'm interested in being interested in someone else) and more about money and freedom that i can't experience because I got my self trapped in a lot of debt (which I'm trying to get out of but it's tough).

It's also completely human to be jealous. It's a hard emotion to control. We all know that. The green polyester suit may look ugly, but it won't be the last time you'll be wearing it either. So I say get a nice shirt and tie to match and nice cologne. Nice smelling cologne always makes me feel better.

I guess that's the bottom line. It's totally normal, but it depends on how you handle it and how long you hold on to the feeling.

Maybe the solution is to turn around and do something similarly bold - and then it will be *you* who is there. (I'm talking to myself in saying this, also.)

It's tough and wicked. And not pretty...but very normal for each of us from time to time. You know we all love ya! In your tightly-fitted suit of jealousy or not. So totally great talking with you...hope the ride home and the snow all behaved like proper women.

I dont get jelous anymore because it can be quite cruel & I hve seen too many times, an ugly result...I just smiloe, aknowledge & forget about it as soon as I walk away...Why pine over something that was not meant to happen to us...

Well, I happen to like my green Polyester suit. It's vintage. And stain resistant.
