Too young?

Society is focused around the virtues of youth. Everywhere you turn, you see fresh faces and nubile bodies plastered in and around every place you turn. They’re the future, and you must focus on them while in the present.

With that, it comes as a huge shock to me when someone tells me they’re not interested in someone like me because I look too young.

Part of me is flattered to think that I’m not considered to be an old fogey. The other part of me is insulted. What the fuck is wrong with looking too young? True, no one ever thinks I'm in my 30's, but that's due to cosmetic surgery. But, come on. Take one good look at me and you know I'm legal (in 48 states, at least).

Is this all due to a matter of experience? With people living well into their 80's, it's understandable that I have a lot to live. But, that doesn't mean that I haven't lived. There are plenty of people who have long quotidien lives - bland and boring. There are also those who live life to the fullest and don't see past 40 when they're speeding along at 120 km/hr.

Since when is being ‘of a certain age’ considered to be a negative? And, since when is being in your 20's considered to be too young? And, can someone tell me how my face and body can remain the same for the next 30 years?

enjoy it for as long as you can, steven. it's a gift and a curse but what the hell!?! it's yours to enjoy and use at your discretion.

at 38 and 29, much to the chagrin of my nine-years-younger brother, people still ask my brother and i who is older. can i tell you how much i love when that happens!?!

I get the same thing all of the time and I am in my 40's. Most people guess that I'm in my 20's...I'm a grandmother for Christ sake!

Saying you looked too young was just a piss poor way of saying "I'm not interested!"

Screw 'em!You look great!

One can never be too young or too old for the right person. Enjoy your youthfulness.

they make these gigantic ziploc bags now. i'm sure you could crawl into one and have someone seal it up, and in 10 or so years, you'll still look as good as you do today.

will make your social life suck, but there is a price to beauty.

Rejection because you're too young isn't about the looks. I know how you feel though, I hate that people take me more seriously when they find out I'm actually OLDER than them.

Young men expect more. They want their dates to be adventurous, pay their own way, occasionally move in bed. I'll happily accept a few wrinkles in exchange for a contented, grateful man.

Is it because people associate others in their youth as being immature and lacking of the experiences in life? I don't get it. Yeah, I've met my share of young guys that need to grow up but why pass judgment without getting to know someone? I've seen a few surprises out there including younger guys that were very mature and older ones that were very childish. In your case sounds like judgment was passed solely on a "look" which is the misfortune of that person. They should get to know the real you!
